record store day is synonymous with exclusive and limited releases and this year is no different. featuring a collaboration ep with adrianyounge from venice dawn and black dynamite fame and adrian quesada from the echocentrics, ocote soul sounds, brownout and grammy-winning grupo fantasma. a first name is not all adrian younge and adrian quesada share, they also both have an equal love of the psychedelic, the cinematic and at the root of it all, soul music. so it was inevitable that a collaboration would eventually come to fruition. mutual admirers of each others work, they first met at the sxsw music festival while on the same bill. both began their production careers on mpc and taught themselves various instruments to further capture the symphonies heard in their heads. fresh off his current solo project something about april under the moniker venice dawn, adrian younge found time to create all new tracks with adrian quesada who just released his echoland tribute to timbaland with the echocentrics. although both are distinct artists in their own right, they are cut from the same cloth with a signature sound thats equal parts morricone, early portishead, wu-tang and 60s psychedelic cinema soundtracks. their combined efforts on this ep guarantees a double dose of the sound we have come to expect from these talented individuals.

the collectable artifact imprint is taking a detour from incendiary and obscure disco re-issues into releasing even more obscure material. mysterious italian electro-wave band cristalli liquidi are featured here with a killer rare italo gem produced by tinto b. (also known for robots are un-american, re-released on italians do it better last year). inspired by a lcd soundsystem song tinto b. comes with this great record! we cant find the connection to the lcd soundsystem track that supposed to have been his source of inspiration, and actually we dont care... its some of the best recent italo disco we ve heard in a while! if you are big on italo vocals the a side is for you, if instead you dig deep electro disco but without the chanting, the dub version on the flip side will more than certainly send you into italo space. another hot artifact release from mr. bottin. tip! any fan of drum & bass will know the name cyantific. having built a reputation as a leader of the new school d&b generation, jon stanley is now approaching a decade of releasing incredible music thats equally at home on the dance floor as it is on your ipod or in your car. last year saw cyantific unleash an incredible single for ram records, as well as bounce it / obey on his own self-titled cyantific record label. here we have the follow up to that release and its undoubtedly another exciting 12 inch, packed with plenty of cyantifics trademark energy. effortlessly combining sharp production skills with graceful musicality, you can always be assured that a new cyantific record is one to watch out for and this new single is certainly no exception. mirador takes the lead, opening with huge sweeping sound fx and a bouncing synth line that harks back to a classic ram sound. its not long before you notice cyantifics signatures though, as he brings in vocal snippets and washing pads that gradually build and grow before a monster bassline drops into the mix. this one undeniably straddles the line between restrained musical class and outright dance floor mayhem. on the flip side defect comes in at an infinitely more paranoid level. strings are infused with urgency and rolling breaks thunder along, dragging you kicking and screaming towards the inevitable drop. you wont be disappointed when it hits either, grinding bassline sections are juxtaposed with obsessive synths, all pulling you deeper into cyantifics musical world.

manuel tur returns to freerange following some brilliant eps including foolin on delusions of grandeur and more recently the sublime deepness of about to fall on mildpitch, the label he runs with dplay. recent remixes include those for jazzanova, azari & iii and wildbirds and peacedrums on dixons philomena label. manuel is also one half of ribn alongside langenberg and their releases have recently got rave reviews following releases and remixes on ovum and poker flat. jimpster continues to be in demand as a remixer and dj with his recent remixes for terrence parker on systematic and freak seven on 2020 vision both storming into the top tens of the major online house charts. he currently holds number one on traxsource deep house with his freak seven remix. king britt has had an amazing return to form the last year or so with his remix of jay haze for contexterior and his planet e release proving why he is such a versatile and accomplished producer. already being played and charted by by ame, deetron, agoria and steve bug.

the cl interpretations, based on the sixth melted recordings release cl versions of echtzeit, were firstly divided into two sucessful releases: part 1 and 2. now that more artists of circle of friends of melted have done their own interpretations, a third part was released. this time all tracks were based on the same track three, but now with a wide-spread spectrum of techno – from melodic, deep and dubtech to harder, diffused and current state of the art techno. monomood, known from the melted recordings friended label etui records, starts with his constructive warm and melodic rebuild called 3cl of echo. also aerror is here into deep dubtechno, much different as his last version of part 1. sector varied his track for part 1 into a more deep dub but kicking techno track terminals rmx. bassart, an austrian techno and electro dj, comes a with highly diffused hard techno interpretation – his first vinyl appearance. it is the first techno track (called cotta re-dub) of bons on vinyl, too. he is in the circle of friends and supporter of melted for many years, since the start in 1999.

amplified is back with the second part of the acclaimed disco in distress series. this time whizzkid quell is joining in the action delivering a stunning deep house gemm in glengoyne! lay-far once again shows his talent for deep ‘n slow disco vibes. gimme is the heat. nicholas needs no introduction anymore. after killer singles on 4lux last year and a remarkable series of nu groove takes, he here delivers a very strong and original disco-gospel tune called blessing. last but not least we introduce you to the wonderful world of australian producer sellouts who comes with telling everybody a long and mesmerizing disco nugget. a real headnodder!

following releases on mathematics, boxfade and vuzkid, chris moss acid returns with an extraterrestrial four tracker on holland’s 030303. the a-side features bay of cadiz, an eleven minute cut built around an hypnotic bass line and a simple hitchcockian synth that would do well in a horror movie featuring zombies with smiley faces. on the flip, lynchette matravers is an energetic, crystal clear banger reminding of early 808 state. the big freeze sounds a lot warmer than the title suggests and should please anyone into afx’s later output. the rhythm, the fourth and last track on the ep, continues on that vibe with beautiful synth work. chris moss may look like a nutter, this sure is serious sonic pleasure

marcos cabral and jacques renaults latest on the prowl 12 inch features the return of andy ash, the man who dropped >another world< with them last year (otp007) as well as a grab of edits on otp party breaks way back in 2010. as is to be expected with the talented, young producer, the ep is all groovy, bouncy, high-octane house with a hardy injection of disco glitz.

last year s acclaimed sea power & change ep, a melancholic project from the mind of celebrated portuguese powerhouse tiago, is now revisited through the lens of three essential esp institute artists. side a gives us a take on strange fruit by our heroes soft rocks — a smacked up dub/boogie rendition leaving the beautifully dark mood intact whilst twisting the the rhythms toward the tough side. on side b, secret circuit (eddie ruscha of laughing light of plenty, and soon to release his solo release for esp) stuffs wild combination in his saddle and takes us for a ride through a futuristic version of the wild west with a funky bassline and distant whistles, only to be rounded out by a blissed-out epic re-rendering of yesterday is gone by somberero galaxys jonny nash. its a family affair.

transmissions from the cyber dance imprint have been sporadic since its inception in 2005, but when they arrive they are always something very special indeed. ostensibly one of italo discos great lost producers, we suspect that bandidos gang may well be a nom de plume for one of the labels many associates. whatever their provenance, the tracks certainly sound like vintage italo, with >marinche< leading with a pulsating bass arpeggio and synth horn melody worthy of moroder, whilst the flemming dalum & steen gjerulff remix adds layers of vocoder and a variety of cosmic accents to its sturdy frame. >last train to tucamari< meanwhile takes a more languid approach, pulling in an opposite direction to the speeding train samples, whilst flemming dalum & mike saltas remix adds some guitar licks, hazy synth atmospherics and even a flute solo which just adds to the classic italo feel.

matador is a dublin based dj,live performer and producer who has been releasing his own twisted but organic take on techno for the last four years. late last year came the huge kingswing ep on minus and now this spooks ep sees him step-up once again for a 5 track outing which balances his usual melody with a real techno drive. the title track opens proceedings with predatory, roughshod bass tone running underneath blippy melodies, snappy house influenced percussion and a dark male vocal where kenekt is all out sci-fi weirdness.spiralling space ships, undulating basslines and plenty of well-defined percussion all add up to a snaking track that really works its way under your skin.on the flip,b1 bambam is the most heads down and streamlined techno offering of them all before klay is the ep closer which manages to bend and drip little melodic droplets down the face of slinky hi-hats and deep,rolling basslines.

souvenir is proud to present its 44th ep from a duo of frankfurts favourite sons, chris wood and carsten meat schuchmann. both chris and carsten have come up through frankfurts music scene, chris with his long time residency at the infamous monza club and carsten having started the citys premier record shop freebase, still going strong 18years later. trained as a studio engineer, chris cut his chops under the wise wings of pascal feos and joinedforces with meat, who held residencies at cocoon and robert johnson. last year they dropped the mighty triple s on souvenir, which destroyed dance floors as far afield as sao paolo to ibiza.
